Following the announcement that the Community Christmas Carols are returning to an under the stars format in Home Hill this year, Burdekin children are being invited to join in the festivities by taking part in the Children’s Lantern Parade.
Children can create their very own lantern during one of two drop-in workshops being held at the Burdekin Library and Home Hill Branch Library next week.
All equipment will be provided, and bookings are not necessary, however parental supervision is required.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said “Those who are unable to attend the workshop are encouraged to make a lantern at home, and using a battery-operated candle, bring their lantern to the event and join in on the procession.
“It would be wonderful to see our children light up the night together, as they parade through the crowd.”
The Children’s Lantern Parade will be held as part of the Community Christmas Carols on Sunday 9 December at Watson’s Green in Home Hill.
