Pageants, carols and fireworks

*PLEASE NOTE - Due to unfavourable weather conditions, the Christmas where the Angas flows event in Strathalbyn has been cancelled on Friday 14 December 2018 and rescheduled to Friday 21 December 2018.

The Christmas season is almost upon us and a number of community groups are helping spread the cheer by hosting free celebrations around the region. See below:

Sunday 16 December 2018 from 6pm – Goolwa Christmas Festival – This annual community Christmas festival includes a pageant, children’s entertainment, Santa and fireworks. The pageant goes along Cadell Street and finishes at Goolwa Oval where festivities await. Tuesday 18 December 2018 from 5pm – Carols in the Park – Port Elliot – Join in a Christmas carols sing-a-long with the Port Elliot community. The evening will include family activities and a visit from Santa at Port Elliot Town Square, The Strand. Friday 21 December 2018 from 6pm – Christmas where the Angas flows – Strathalbyn - Celebrate the beginning of the festive season with a pageant, family activities and fireworks. The pageant winds through the Strathalbyn township and finishes at Soldiers Memorial Gardens. Monday 24 December 2018 from 5pm - Goolwa Community Children and Families Party – The annual Christmas Eve party is celebrated at Arthur Neighbour Reserve, Goolwa. Bring rugs, chairs and a picnic to enjoy a free BBQ, live music, giveaways and children’s amusements. Monday 31 December 2018 at Midnight - NYE Fireworks Off the Bridge - Goolwa Wharf Precinct - Celebrate the new year with a spectacular fireworks display from the Hindmarsh Island Bridge. Access to Hindmarsh Island will be restricted by both road and walkway between 11pm -12:30am with a total road closure on the bridge from 11.30pm-12.30am. Boats will also be restricted from entering the 4-knot Zone around the bridge between those same times.
