30 November 2018 - Media release
Round two of Campaspe Shire Council’s 2018/19 Community Grants were presented this week, financially supporting many local community groups and events.
Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said 50 not for profit community groups received a total of $116,710 to assist in the delivery of events and projects within the community.
“Funding through this round of the Community Grants program has supported around 90 per cent of the value of the projects to be delivered by community groups,” Cr Weston said.
“Council is proud to fund groups to ensure these projects can be provided for residents to participate, develop and experience inclusion and sustainability.”
Grant recipient Paul Diegan from the Rushworth Easter Heritage Festival Inc. thanked Campaspe Shire for $5,000 which will support the group’s 2019 event.
“This year we estimate we had 5,500 visitors to the area and next year we would like to see that number rise. We are aiming for bigger and better, while still keeping within the event’s heritage theme. We look forward to bringing another successful event that benefits not only Rushworth, but also the wider area of Campaspe Shire,” Mr Deigan said.
Dot Hammond from the Echuca Historical Society accepted $2,000 and said we will now be able to bring a consultant from Melbourne to train 10 of our members to use our extensive database.
“This will improve our volunteers’ knowledge which will enable them to better assist the public with their many historical enquiries,” Ms Hammond said.
