Manly Corso is in tip top shape for the holiday season after an army of painters, cleaners and labourers swooped in for a serious spring clean offensive in November.

Affectionately called the Special Works and Transformation Team, or S.W.A.T Team, the 50-strong contingent blitzed the Corso, charging through to complete vegetation works, high-pressure washing, litter picking, general cleaning and painting.

Originally planned for three days, the SWAT Team were beaten back by extreme storm events but pushed through to get the scheduled work compete in two.

Bins were painted, the Town Hall lawn returfed, in-ground lights replaced and the whole area given a high level clean.

While Council crews are out on the Corso doing this work every day, the S.W.A.T Team saw an opportunity to get all together in a coordinated blitz to knock off all those little jobs that can really make a difference, in one go.

The initiative is a trial and if successful similar blitzes would be rolled out at a number of villages and town centres across the Northern Beaches in the new year.
