It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and from 6pm on Saturday December 15 it will also sound a lot like Christmas when Coffs Coast Carols come to Brelsford Park.

Over 130 students from seven local schools are busy rehearsing in the lead-up to the Carols and are ready to burst into song when they take their place on the stage.

The students from primary and high schools across the Coffs Coast will be singing Christmas favourites such as: Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells Rock, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Rockin around the Christmas Tree.

Brock Janssen, Creative and Performing Arts Teacher at Toormina High School and coordinator of the choir said that the students were very excited to be taking part in the event.

“For some of the students it will be their first time on stage in front of such a large live audience, it’s a great opportunity for them,” he said.

Coffs Coast Carols is a free community event held annually on Brelsford Park to celebrate the spirit of Christmas with close to 6,000 members of the community enjoying a picnic, sing along and fireworks every year.

The fun-filled evening will also feature a fantastic line up of local performers including Rowland and Shekinah Moye, Mal Winkle, Sara Battery and Jennifer Arts to sing and dance their way through all of your favourite Christmas carols during a spectacular show hosted by Triple M’s Moffee and Mayor of Coffs Harbour, Cr Denise Knight.

“Carols is one of those times where the whole community comes together with their family and friends to celebrate the festive season,” said Mayor Cr Denise Knight.

“It is fantastic to see so many children involved in the event this year – the carols are sure to be a real crowd pleaser!”

“A huge thank you has to go to the many local businesses that give generously to support this fantastic event. Free community events like this just would not be possible without their support.”

There will be plenty of entertainment on offer throughout the evening including food stalls, the arrival of Santa’s, fireworks and of course spectacular carols!

You can also treat the kids with face painting, pony rides, fun inflatables and glow sticks will be available for purchase thanks to Coffs Girl Guides.

Everyone is welcome to head along, throw down a picnic blanket, warm up their vocal cords and enjoy a great night out with family and friends.
