Gladstone Region residents evacuated by bushfires may be eligible for a Queensland Government grant to assist with food, clothing, medical supplies or temporary accommodation.
Department of Communities’ Emergency Hardship Assistance grants are on offer to residents who were evacuated from townships including:
• Ambrose
• Baffle Creek
• Captain Creek
• Deepwater
• Mount Larcom
• Oyster Creek
• Rules Beach
• Taunton
• Winfield
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett thanked both the State and Federal Government for aiding those in need in our communities.
“The jointly funded Commonwealth/State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) personal hardship grants can relieve some of the stresses for our residents during this traumatic time,” Councillor Burnett said.
Residents can apply for grants in the following ways:
• Online www.communityrecovery.qld.gov.au via personal devices including computer, smartphone, tablet.
• Over the phone by calling the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.
• In person at Recovery Hubs at Miriam Vale Community Centre, 41 Blomfield St, 9am-5pm; or Mount Larcom Rural Transaction Centre (47 Raglan St), 10am to 4pm.
