Wednesday, December 12 – Sunday, December 16, 2018 In celebration of the 2018 Lord Mayor’s Green Heart Photography Competition, Brisbane City Council will be projecting Storm Trees by Mia Macfarlane on to the William Jolly Bridge from 12-16 December 2018. The annual competition challenged Brisbane residents to capture creative, emotive and inspiring images of our natural environment. This year, entrants interpreted the theme ‘Colours of Brisbane’ though an environmental lens and captured images to showcase the importance of keeping Brisbane clean, green and sustainable today and for future generations. Mia is a Year 8 student at Somerville House and took this photograph to celebrate the different colours of Brisbane’s seasons. She said, ‘These seasons are beautiful and especially in Brisbane, they show their true colours. Even though the seasons are very different, Brisbane looks good in anything’. Mia is a finalist in the 2018 secondary school ages category of the competition.
