It’s that time of year. Christmas trees and decorations are going up, carols are being sung, Christmas parties are being held and children are writing their wish lists for Santa.

And what would Christmas be without the opportunity to see Santa and Mrs Claus.

Children dream of Santa and his sleigh visiting each year.

After years of use though, Santa’s sleigh has had to undergo a much needed overhaul and refurbish.

Work has been taking place behind the scenes to have Santa’s revamped bright red sleigh ready on time for Santa and Mrs Claus’s arrival at Toowoomba’s iconic City Hall for the annual Christmas lighting up of the building, and also taking part in the Toowoomba’s CBD Christmas celebrations on December 6th.

Toowoomba City Council (TRC) Environment and Community Committee Chair, Cr Geoff McDonald said “We live in a wonderful part of the world. Our community is made of up compassionate and caring people, individuals, families and children. Council is thrilled to join our community in celebrating the spirit of Christmas”.

‘Children will get to see Santa and Mrs Claus when he arrives on his bright red new shiny sleigh at City Hall on the 6th December at 7.pm.

“This is truly a very magical time of year. I cannot wait to see the excited looks on children’s faces when Santa and Mrs Claus arrive on his sleigh at City Hall” Cr Geoff McDonald said.

But that won’t be the only chance for children to see Santa on the night.

Santa, Mrs Claus and of course the magic bright red sleigh will be leading the Christmas Parade from City Hall, when they sleigh their way down Ruthven Street, before turning left into Margaret Street on their way to Grand Central’s Community Space to help light-up the city’s largest community Christmas tree around 7.30pm. (Anyone following the parade are reminded that they cannot follow on the street. They have to use the footpath as the street will be open to traffic after the parade passes).

Fun starts at City Hall at 6pm on the 6th December. There will be Free Popcorn and an Elf hat making area by City Hall.

Santa and Mrs Claus arrive at City Hall on the 6th December at 7.pm.

Santa and Mrs Claus on their shiny bright red sleigh will lead the Christmas Parade from City Hall at 7.10pm to Central Square, Grand Central for the lighting up of the Community Christmas tree.

Lots of other activities will also be happening in the CBD so take the time to walk around the CBD streets and laneways checking out Christmas windows, displays, enjoying the entertainment, listening to the Carols, and also supporting our local CBD traders.
