Local Artists wanted for the inaugural Armadale Arts Bush Trail
City of Armadale 4 Dec 2018

Are you a local artist who is passionate about the environment? The City of Armadale is inviting local artists to register their interest in working alongside renowned Land Artist, Elaine Clocherty, to inspire artworks for the inaugural Armadale Arts Bush Trail.

Two local community artists are being sought to mentor and work with selected local environmental, bush care and school groups. The artists will help the groups create artworks for the bush trail as part of the 2019 Armadale Arts Festival.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the project will facilitate more community groups to be part of the arts festival while also highlighting the amazing bush tracks that are in the area.

“With the response received so far, we expect this to be an exciting highlight of the Armadale Arts Festival.

“It will be a privilege for the City to have such a renowned artist work with local artists and community groups to deliver this exciting art project for the City.”

Recently featured in the Sydney Sculptures by the Sea, Elaine works in natural environments, as part of an international land art movement, and has run many successful community art projects.

“The artists will help the community groups to design an ephemeral artwork utilising the natural materials of the area.  Artists do not have to be land artists although they will require an interest in nature and the environment. The main skills and experience sought after for this project is an artist that is experienced and passionate about working with the community,” added Mayor Zelones.

The artworks will be developed in March and April 2019, installed during the first weekend of the festival in early May and then viewed by the public as an ephemeral art trail for the two weeks following.

“We hope the Armadale Arts Bush Trail will become a part of the annual Arts Festival for many years to come and will continue to encourage more people to explore the beautiful bush tracks that are such a key feature of our area.”

Expressions of Interest submissions are due by 4pm Friday 14 December to [email protected].

Each submission has to include an Artist Resume, Project Statement, evidence of residency, and two references.
