News Stage 3 of Roebourne-Wittenoom Road to be closed temporarily Dec 04 2018 Main Roads has just advised the Shire they will be commencing the next phase of asbestos clearing on Stage 3 of the Roebourne-Wittenoom Road tomorrow, Wednesday 5 December. The proposed works involve grading the current alignment which is great news for those who travel this road. The Shire has been advised by MRWA that WorkSafe WA consider that the ultimate method of operation is to temporarily close this section of road to general traffic while these works are undertaken. Stage 3 of the Roebourne-Wittenoom Road is the section from the Rio Tinto rail crossing through to the beginning of the bitumen seal at Python Pool. The works are planned to commence from Wednesday 5 December 2018 and to finish no later than 21 December 2018. Hence this section of road Roebourne-Wittenoom Road shown as red and orange on the following map will be CLOSED during this period. Special permission for Pastoral land owners and emergency vehicles to access this section of road can be arranged through Main Roads Port Hedland (Phone 9172 8877
[email protected]). While the temporary road closures may cause some minor inconvenience in the short term, the result will be a safer road to travel prior to the sealing works commencing next year. More news articles
