High performing Burdekin athletes and coaches about to begin university are being encouraged to apply for one of three sports scholarships being offered by North Queensland Sports Foundation and CQUniversity.
Under the CQUniCares North Queensland Sports Foundation Scholarship, elite athletes and coaches who are about to begin the first year of a Bachelor’s degree at CQUniversity are eligible for up to $10,000 in financial assistance.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our Burdekin athletes to develop their sporting careers and further their education whilst remaining in North Queensland.”
There are three scholarships on offer, including one dedicated to Indigenous Athletes.
As Burdekin Shire Council is a member of the North Queensland Sports Foundation, all Burdekin residents are eligible to apply.
Applications are now open and will close on Friday 11 January.
