6 December 2018 - Media release

Campaspe Shire Council residents and businesses will be affected by changes to waste, recycling and garden organic collections over Christmas and New Year.

With a number of declared public holidays during the festive period, council’s waste and recycling service providers, Veolia has had to change a couple of collection days. It affects households and businesses which normally have their rubbish, recycling or garden organic waste collected on a Tuesday.

Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the changes affect the Girgarre township and rural areas, as well as parts of Rochester, Kyabram and Echuca, residential and rural areas.

“Changes apply to households and businesses whose normal bin collection day is a Tuesday,” Cr Weston said.

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on a Tuesday and collections for these days will move to the Sunday prior, with collections being:

Usual collection day                Change to

Tuesday, 25 December              Sunday, 23 December

Tuesday, 1 January                    Sunday, 30 December

If for some reason a collection is missed, residents can always take their rubbish to the Echuca Environment Centre or transfer stations at Colbinabbin, Gunbower, Lockington, Mount Scobie, Rochester, Rushworth and Toolleen for a fee. Recycling (items you would normally put in your yellow lid bin) can be taken to any of the transfer stations for free. Opening hours are available on council’s website.
