Council will be supporting some exciting, family-friendly activities during the December school holidays.
Museum of Tropical Queensland (MTQ)
Council has renewed its agreement with the Museum of Tropical Queensland (MTQ) to continue to allow free general admission for residents from the region for the next 3 years.
To celebrate the new agreement, MTQ will be holding free Dino-themed activities at the Excelsior Library at 10am on Saturday 15 December. The activities will include badge making, origami and photo opportunity with a baby dino.
Residents who wish to take advantage of the free admission just need to provide proof of address on arrival at the Museum.
The Museum's 2018-2019 exhibition highlights will include the opening of the permanent Sciencentre on 15 December, Day of the Dinosaurs in February, World Science Festival Brisbane Townsville program in March and Creepy Crawlies Alive at Easter.
Summer Reading Club - Excelsior Library
The national Summer Reading Club will return this year to the Excelsior Library and online at summerreadingclub.org.au. More than a thousand public libraries across the country will participate for another fun-filled season.
Created for children and young people pre-school age to 17, the Summer Reading Club is a free program led by State Library of Queensland (SLQ) that inspires imaginations and instils a love of libraries and reading.
The Library will be holding a launch party on Saturday 15 December at 10am.
School Holiday Weekday Activities
There will also be daily weekday activities from 2 January through until 25 January. Activities will include arts and crafts, Lego Day, Construction Day and GOMA – Kids On Tour.
