Funding provided under Round 1 of the State Government’s Fixing Country Roads program will contribute to four road improvement projects in Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale.
“Council will receive $495,000 from the Fixing Country Roads program,” said Lenny Jenner, Borough of Queenscliffe Chief Executive Officer.
The funding will go toward widening and sealing of Bowen Road to provide on-street parking adjacent to the Point Lonsdale Primary School and the Community Hall, sealing the intersection at Milne Court and Ocean Road in Point Lonsdale to direct stormwater away from Milne Court, creation of a bicycle link from Bridge Street, Queenscliff to the Bellarine Rail Trail, and design of a safe shared pathway along Murray Road in Queenscliff.
“Council is very pleased to be working with the State Government toward the completion of these projects, which will greatly improve safety and accessibility,” said Mr Jenner.
Works associated with the Fixing Country Roads projects in the Borough of Queenscliffe are expected to commence in early 2019.
The Fixing Country Roads program has contributed funding to 91 projects that will be delivered by all 48 rural and regional councils across Victoria to improve local road networks.
