Improving safety standards around the Kyneton Airfield

Published on 06 December 2018

Residents can now have their say on a new draft local law which aims to improve safety around Kyneton Airfield.

The draft Local Law would align Kyneton Airfield with best practice safety standards set by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Acting Director Assets and Operations, Anne-Louise Lindner said the local law, which has been drafted following community feedback, will set height restrictions on potential obstructions or activities near the airfield that could pose a safety hazard for aircraft.

“These include poles, radio masts, antennas, cranes, lights, trees and other infrastructure,” she said.

You can have your say online at: Your Say, or send a written submission by email to [email protected] or mail to PO Box 151, Kyneton, 3444. Submissions close 5pm Thursday 7 February 2019.

Copies of the draft local law and the draft community impact statement can be viewed on Council’s website and at Council service centres.

A meeting to hear and consider any submissions on the proposed local law will be held on Wednesday 20 February at 6.30pm at the Gisborne Administration Centre.
