MEDIA RELEASE 7 December 2018
Council has commissioned company Convic Pty Ltd to design an extension to the Bathurst Skate Park.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said the extension will provide more skate park features that will cater to all skill levels and skate park riding disciplines, including beginners and intermediate levels.
“The extension to the skate park will provide more opportunities for young people of differing skill levels to use the facility”, he said.
“Public open spaces like skate parks gives young people a place to call their own. It also provides them the opportunity to socialise and be outdoors to get fresh air and exercise.”
A workshop was held on October 25 where the community was invited to have a say on what they would like included in the skate park extension. A Draft Concept Design has since been developed based on the outcomes of the workshop.
Council is asking for comment on the ‘Draft Concept Design’. Feedback from the online consultation process will be considered before a detailed design is completed.
It is anticipated that tenders will be called at the beginning of the new financial year for the construction of the skate park extension.
To have YourSay on the Bathurst Skate Park visit yoursay.bathurst. nsw.gov.au and complete the survey on the concept design. In addition, a written submission can be sent to The General Manager, PMB 17 Bathurst NSW 2795.
Comments on the draft plan will be received up until the 11 January 2019
