Works will commence on the asphalt reseal of Barton Avenue, Wallerawang during the month of December.

As part of Lithgow City Council’s 2018/19 capital works program, a number of roads across the Local Government Area have been identified as requiring remedial work. As part of this program, over 500 lineal meters of Barton Avenue, Wallerawang will be asphalt resealed this month outside the entrance to Lake Wallace and adjacent to the intersection of James Parade.

This road requires immediate restoration in order to ensure the safety of road users and better serve the community. As such, within the month of December contract asphalt teams and machinery will be on site to remediate and re-seal sections of Barton Avenue, weather permitting.

Works will include the removal of the existing seal and reseal of the affected areas. Improvements such as increased consistency of shoulder width and improved drivability are also a requirement of this work. It is expected that these scheduled improvements will serve to increase both driver safety and comfort and greatly reduce maintenance expenditure in these areas.

Please note that this project is 50% co-funded by the NSW Government through the Roads and Maritime Services Regional Roads REPAIR program, with the remaining 50% being funded by Lithgow City Council. Council greatly appreciates the assistance of the NSW Government with regard to this important project.

Residents are urged to note that traffic conditions may change in these areas. Please exhibit caution and patience while travelling through the area.
