Looking for some fun and safe things for your children to do these holidays?

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Portfolio Leader – Environment and Community Cr Joe Ramia said “It's that time of year again. These school holidays our Regional Libraries have planned a broad range of fun, free activities, for kids to enjoy”.

Library activities have been planned for children of all ages and will be run throughout December and January.

Cr Joe Ramia said “Children can even go online and join the summer reading club and it’s free to register and join”

“Online reading club members will have the opportunity to not only read some great titles but blog with the children’s authors, search for answers to an Encyclopaedia Britannica’s sponsored quiz, craft a ‘What Happens Next’ story ending, share their book raves and artwork and lots more” Cr Ramia said.

Children looking for Christmas ideas can learn to make Origami gift boxes, decorate gingerbread biscuits with lollies and icing, learn to make a book mark, make a sun catcher or have fun making some Christmas crafts.

For the more adventurous you can find and identify insects, locate curious creatures, lean to play the drums, construct your own sword and shield, create your own Pokemon and hunt for Pokemon in the library, join in the Junior and Senior Xbox Challenge, play Dungeons and Dragons, or even test your ingenuity by designing a floatable robotic raft.

If the force runs strong in the family, then you will want to get along to the Toowoomba City Library on Saturday January 12th as it is taken over by an empire of Star Wars fans.

Whether you prefer the dark or light side there will be fun activities for Star War fans of all ages on the day.

Cr Joe Ramia said “I encourage parents and families to check out all the activities happening around our Regional Libraries during the holidays”.

“Regional Libraries at Toowoomba, Highfields, Oakey, Goombungee, Pittsworth, Millmerran, Cecil Plains, Clifton, Crows Nest, Yarraman and Quinalow all have various activities planned” Cr Ramia said.
