The City’s New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Foreshore on 31 December 2018 will be the second major event to benefit from the extended services. Route 555 will operate on an eight-minute frequency between 4pm–6pm and will be extended to 1am, operating on a 15-minute frequency from 9pm.

Extra parking for the NYE celebration will be available at the Village Green and Dixon Road Reserve. People parking at Dixon Road Reserve should catch the 555 bus at the Goddard Street bus stop.

The City’s Australia Day Celebration at the Foreshore on 26 January 2019 will also benefit from the changes, with route 555 extended to 9.30pm and operating on a 15-minute frequency. Once again, additional parking will be available at the Village Green and Dixon Road Reserve, with residents able to catch the 555 bus at the Goddard Street Stop.

Deputy Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged residents to either cycle or use the extended public transport services on offer during the City’s major events.

"As part of the City’s Summer Series of free, family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free events, we will be a hosting a number of major events that draw thousands of spectators," Deputy Mayor Hamblin said.

"With such a major influx of people, getting to and from these events can often be difficult, which is why we are pleased to be able to offer a range of additional parking options and encourage residents to take public transport where possible.

"In addition to the wide range of extra parking and public transport options on offer, residents are also encouraged to cycle. Cycling is a healthy, environmentally friendly and easy way for residents to get around the City’s major events throughout summer."

The Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation project is in a construction break over summer and all businesses are open as usual. Find out about the progress.
