The South Australian Government is currently in the process of undertaking major reforms to the planning system within our state. As part of this process they have begun releasing framework and policy documents on the new system and will continue to do so over the coming months.
The State Planning Commission (the Commission) has now prepared a policy discussion paper entitled, Productive Economy, which has been released for consultation until 22 February 2019. This paper is one of four papers that explore land use policies in South Australia and will assist the Commission to establish the new planning rules for the assessment of development proposals.
The Productive Economy discussion paper outlines the key issues and opportunities associated with enhancing South Australia’s economic competitiveness as we move into the new planning system. It focuses on the role the planning system can play in protecting and growing key industries, linking people to jobs, goods and services, providing infrastructure to enhance liveability, and facilitating greater opportunities for innovation and enabling investment.
The discussion paper and further information can be viewed electronically at yoursay.sa.gov.au.
All interested parties are encouraged to provide comment on the policy discussion paper via the SA Planning Portal.
Submissions close Friday 22 February 2019.
