Carrathool Shire Council is offering amnesty to those residents who own a dog or cat, from regulatory action for the months of December 2018 to February 2019.
The amnesty period is to encourage pet owners to micro-chip and register their dog or cat and to update details about their pet. Details that can be updated are change of owner, change of address, or if you’re pet(s) have passed away.
This amnesty means that pet owners can safely update details about their pet and micro-chip/register their animals without receiving warning letters or fines. For those resident that been issued fines recently, these will be cancelled as part of the amnesty provisions.
Carrathool Shire Council is currently drafting education and compliance policies that will be submitted to the Ordinary Meeting of Council, scheduled for 18 December 2018. If accepted by Council, these documents will be available for public consultation and comment and will be submitted to the Ordinary Meeting of Council for adoption at its February meeting.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this amnesty this summer.
