Ballarat City Council voted to carry out consultation on its revised 2018-19 budget at its December 12 meeting.
The revised budget was prompted by the successful securing of a low-cost $10 million loan through the State Government’s $100 million Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme.
The loan will allow the City of Ballarat to implement a critical $16 million sporting infrastructure investment over two years, including 32 sporting infrastructure projects across 20 different clubs, in 15 different sports and at 18 separate venues.
Projects to be completed include:
* Female friendly facilities
* Modular, or pre-fabricated, facilities
* Bowls facilities
* Lighting projects
* Irrigation, drainage and pitch upgrades
These vital projects were due to be completed over the next five years but can now be brought forward.
This loan facility has enabled Council to bring forward works thus freeing funds in future allocations for the repayment of the loan.
Written public submissions on the revised budget will be accepted for 28 days, beginning Monday 17 December 2018 and closing 9am Monday 14 January 2019.
A special meeting of Council will be held on Wednesday 23 January 2019 at 7.00pm to receive the submissions.
Anyone who has submitted a written submission can request to present their submission to the special Council meeting.
All written submissions will be kept confidential otherwise.
A Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 30 January 2019 to consider the adopt of the 2018-19 revised budge
