More than 700 metres of Campaspe Shire Council’s footpaths are set to be replaced as part of the annual works program.
Mayor Cr Adrian Weston said $400,000 has been allocated in the 2018/19 budget for the footpath replacement program with works prioritised following inspections.
“With available funding spread across many works programs from roads, drainage, to buildings and more, council assesses, and then prioritises works following customer service requests and inspections,” Cr Weston said.
“Works are then included in the program on a priority basis.”
“Improvements have been made to this year’s program to now include smaller sections of footpath, up to three concrete bays, resulting in 20 sections of footpath to be replaced.”
In Kyabram, a total of 425 metres of footpath will be replaced, across 10 streets, and 22 individual sections:
Crow Crescent Mellis Street Sawers Avenue Edis Street Rogers Street Oswald Street Allan Street Haslem Street Chaston Street Fenaughty StreetIn addition, one 28 metre section of footpath in Mellis Street will be totally removed and not replaced due to impacts from nearby trees. This will reduce future maintenance to the footpath that does not provide any connectivity or access in the area.
“This will allow the trees to survive, with footpath connection provided for pedestrians across the road, with a 30 metre section of footpath being replaced as part of the program,” Cr Weston said.
In Echuca, a total of 227 metres of footpath will be replaced, across three streets, and eight individual sections:
Leichardt Street Boothman Street Landsborough StreetIn Rochester, a total of 62 metres of footpath will be replaced, in two streets and two individual sections:
Mackay Street Wileman StreetCouncil will shortly call for tenders for the works, to be completed from March through to June 2019. Before works are started in each area adjoining landowners will be notified and disruption kept to a minimum.
