Patrons at Kyneton Town Hall are set to enjoy performances in comfort with the installation of a new air-conditioning system.
The venue will be closed between January and March 2019 while the new system is installed.
Works at the site also include upgrades to stage lighting and equipment.
Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said these improvements would attract even more people to the popular venue.
“Kyneton Town Hall is the shire’s premier entertainment venue, and the comfort of patrons and performers is paramount.
“Our audiences have indicated we could improve their experience and enjoyment through upgrades, and we’ve listened.
“Next year, Kyneton Town Hall will celebrate its 90th birthday, and we’ve got some fantastic local, national and international performances in the works.
“It’s necessary, and timely, to ensure these important upgrades are undertaken now, and I’d like to thank patrons for their patience while these works take place”, she said.
The project has been funded by Council's 2017/18 Budget with an additional allocation of funds from the 2018/19 budget.
Upgrades to Kyneton Museum are also due to begin in the new year, with the venue closed during February while new display cabinets are installed.
The cabinets have been funded by the Public Record Office, Friends of the Kyneton Museum and Council.
