Council is thrilled with the news that it has been successful in obtaining grant funding in the amount of $93,000 for the Urunga Library extension.

The Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey MP visited the Urunga Library to make the announcement on Wednesday 12 December that funds will be sourced from the NSW Regional Cultural Fund 2018.

Bellingen Shire Mayor, Cr Dominic King said, “On behalf of the Urunga community I thank the State Government for this important financial contribution to our regional infrastructure.  The total library extension project is expected to cost $110,000 and the grant funds of $93,000 will enable this project to become a reality.”

“Regional communities rely on their library to provide more than just books.  It is also a social space to meet, collaborate, research, learn share and relax and these funds will enable Urunga Library to keep pace with our community expectations”, added the Mayor.

The funds will provide:

An extension of the library to create an accessible meeting space with internal access. External access will also be possible for after-hours use. A range of facilities including a whiteboard, data projector, pull down screen, storage area, tables, chairs and facilities for tea and coffee making Additional technology available to users will include the library’s wifi network, as well as a wireless sound field for enhanced audio quality for people with a hearing impairment A space that is accessible Seating up to 35 adults or a more intimate space for smaller groups around tables Threefold seating capacity increase Can enable multiple events to happen simultaneously
