New Year’s Eve – Party in the Park

The Adventure Playground will be full of excitement from 4pm, with live music, show rides and jumping castles. Don’t miss the greatly anticipated fireworks display as it lights up the night sky at 9pm. Pack a picnic, invite your friends and family, and come along to New Year’s Eve Party in the Park and join in the fun on Monday, 31 December from 4.00-9.00pm. Pop-Up Shop

A pop-up shop is now at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, just in time for Christmas. The shop contains stock from Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, National Motor Racing Museum, Chifley Home, Bathurst Visitor Information Centre and Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. There’s something to suit everyone from the young to the young at heart.

Building Bathurst still available

Graham Lupp’s Building Bathurst, the definitive architectural history of the built heritage of Bathurst, is available for Christmas. The two-volume publication is a celebration of the lives of the architects, builders, carpenters, brick makers, ‘mechanics’ and artisans responsible for Bathurst’s reputation as a “red brick town” in its first century. The book is available at Council, Books Plus and online at grahamlupp.art

Keep your pets safe this Christmas

Dog owners should take the time to ensure fences and gates are ‘dog-proof’ ahead of the holiday season. Under new laws, owners of dogs found on the streets off leash, will face a fine of $330, up from $220.

Bathurst NRL tickets on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the round three NRL clash between Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm at Carrington Park on Saturday, 30 March. Early bird prices are available until 7 January. To purchase tickets or for more information visit bathurstnrl.com.au

2018/2019 Bathurst CCTV Funding Program: Round 2

Council is providing funding to assist local businesses improve security and community safety. Businesses within the Bathurst Local Government Area may apply for funding up to a maximum of $500 on a dollar for dollar basis, under the criteria of the Bathurst CCTV Funding Program.

Projects must be completed within the current 2018/2019 financial year to be eligible to apply for a grant. For further details of this fund and/or application packages, please contact Council’s Cultural & Community Services Department on 6333 6523 or Council’s website www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au.

Applications close at 4pm on Friday 18 January 2019.

Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program is for children aged 0-17yrs and will run until 31 January 2019.

Register with the library then borrow, read and record books that have been read in the logbooks and hand them back in. Register online to learn about more activities at summerreadingclub.org.au

Event of the Year

Local organisations are encouraged to nominate for the Bathurst region Community Event of the Year Award and Bathurst Region Destination Event of the Year Award for events that were staged in 2018. For more information or to nominate visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au Nominations close 11 January 2019.

Bathurst Skate Park Extension

Council has commissioned Convic Pty Ltd to design an extension to the Bathurst Skate Park that will cater to all skill levels including beginners. A draft concept design has been developed and Council is now seeking feedback on this design until 11 January 2019.

Centennial Park Landscape Plan

Council is seeking feedback on the Centennial Park concept landscape plan that has been developed after extensive community consultation. The landscape plan developed by dsb Landscape Architects reflects the community’s views to keep Centennial Park green, open and useful. Feedback on the concept plan will accepted until 11 January 2019.

Alec Lamberton Park Consultation

Council is seeking community feedback to inform the Alec Lamberton Park master plan. Following previous community consultation, Council has decided to retain Alec Lamberton Park as open space used for community recreational activities.
