Final payments have been made from the Scotsburn Appeal Fund, and will be split between the Scotsburn Hall Committee of Management and the Clarendon Recreation Reserve Hub Committee of Management.

Approximately $3800 was left in the fundraising account, made up of donations following the 2015 Scotsburn Fires. The Scotsburn Appeal Committee made the decision to split the money between the two committees of management of the recreation facilities, as both facilities were key locations for community recovery events during and after the Scotsburn fires.

Moorabool Shire Cr Tom Sullivan, a member of the Scotsburn Appeal Committee, said he was pleased the money would be used to purchase equipment for the hall and hub, to enable them to continue to provide recovery get-togethers and other community events.

“We held two rounds of disbursements from the appeal fund, with funds going directly to those affected by the fire. The amount left in the account were funds not taken up in the second disbursement,” Cr Sullivan said.

“The Scotsburn Hall and the Clarendon Recreation Reserve have been used often in the recovery efforts the past 3 years, so it’s great to see the remaining appeal funds used to enable them to enhance their community spaces.”

Ballarat City Cr Des Hudson was also a member of the Scotsburn Appeal Committee.
