A section of roadworks on Armidale’s Cookes Road, currently being upgraded in preparation for an adjacent subdivision, will be partially reopened late next week to avoid disruptions to motorists during the Christmas Break.

The section, just north of Cookes Bridge, is currently being controlled by traffic lights. However, that control will be removed for south-bound traffic while the roadworks take a break during the festive period.

Road users are advised to take care during the temporary reopening and to drive to the altered road conditions.

Traffic light controls will be restored on the eastern lane when roadworks resume in the second week of January.

The works, to widen the section of road, are expected to be completed by the end of January.
