City of Ballarat services and operations have altered hours during the Christmas and New Year period.
The City of Ballarat's office departments will close at 5pm, Friday 21 December and will reopen on Wednesday 2 January 2019.
The City of Ballarat operations rapid response team, street cleansing/sanitation and waste collection units will continue to operate during the holiday period.
However, there will be changes to waste and recycling collections for both the week of Christmas and the following week. During this period bins will be collected a day later than the normal collection date:
Monday 24 December collection is as normal
Tuesday 25 December occurs on Wednesday 26 December
Wednesday 26 December moves to Thursday 27 December
Thursday 27 December moves to Friday 28 December
Friday 28 December moves to Saturday 29 December
The following week:
Monday 31 December collection is as normal
Tuesday 1 January 2019 moves to Wednesday 2 January
Wednesday 2 January moves to Thursday 3 January
Thursday 3 January moves to Friday 4 January
Friday 4 January moves to Saturday 5 January
The Waste Transfer Station is closed 25 December and 1 January. Open 10am to 4pm 26 December and all other days as per usual hours. Monday-Friday: 8am-4pm Weekends and public holidays: 10am-4pm
The Art Gallery of Ballarat is closed 25 December and 26 December. Open 10am – 5pm all other days.
The Eureka Centre will close at 4pm on Christmas Eve and will reopen on Thursday 27 December at 10am. Opening hours are 10am to 5pm daily. The Eureka Centre will also be closed on New Year’s Day.
Ballarat Central Library is closed 24 December and re-opens 27 December, closed from 31 December, re-opens 2 January; Sebastopol Library is currently closed and re-opens 2 January; Wendouree Library is closed from 24 December, re-opens 27 December, closed from 30 December, re-opens 2 January; Outreach sites are closed from 24 December, re-open 2 January.
Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre 24 December 6am – 6pm; 25 December closed; 26 December 8am – 4pm; 27 December 6am – 6pm; 28 December 6am - 6pm, 29 December 6am – 6pm, 30 December 8am – 6pm; 31 December 6am – 6pm; 1 January 2019 8am – 4pm; 2 January 6am – 9pm. BALC Children’s Centre will be closed from 24 December 2018 and will re-open on 9 January 2019.
Eureka Aquatic Centre 24 December - 6.30am - 7.30pm; 25 December – closed; 26 December - 7.30am - 7.30pm; 27, 28 December - 6.30am - 7.30pm; 29,30 December - 7.30am - 7.30pm; 31 December - 6.30am - 7.30pm; 1 January - 12pm - 7.30pm; 2 January - 6.30am - 7.30pm.
For opening times at Brown Hill, Black Hill, Buninyong Aquatic Centre and Midlands and Sebastopol water play facilities see the City of Ballarat website. The water play facilities will not be open Christmas Day though you can still access the areas.
The Ballarat Botanical Gardens is open daily 7.30am - 9pm. The Robert Clark Conservatory is closed Christmas Day. Open from 9am-4.30pm all other days.
The Visitor Information Centre is closed on Christmas Day, open every other day from 9am to 5pm.
City of Ballarat Maternal and Child Health centres will close on 21 December and reopen 2 January. Families are encouraged to contact the MCH Line on 13 22 29; the MCH Line is staffed by MCH nurses and is available 24 hours to assist families as required. There is a small team of MCH nurses working from Girrabanya MCH on Friday 28 December to provide support to newborns and very young babies. This MCH service is provided by booked appointment only.
Immunisation services will close 21 December and re-open 2 January. Immunisation services will re-open with a new 'drop in' childhood vaccination clinic 9am -12md in Lucas Community Hub every Thursday morning commencing from 2nd January 2019. No appointment necessary. Please bring your child's Medicare card and green health book.
Central Kindergarten registrations can continue to be submitted online throughout the Christmas period, and administrative staff will be back on the office on Wednesday 2 January.
City of Ballarat Supported Playgroups will finish the week ending Friday 14 December and recommence in the first week of February.

Meals on Wheels will be delivering except on the public holidays, with meals for public holidays to be delivered on Friday.
