Liverpool City Council’s iconic New Year’s Eve celebration, Light Up the Lake, will dazzle families with a bonanza of entertainment at Chipping Norton Lake’s Grand Flaneur Beach.

This year Council has partnered with Seven News to treat attendees to an immersive multimedia experience looking back from the 1970s to now. Live acts will perform the best hits of each decade such as Motown classics, 80s dance anthems and 90s block party hits.

“At 9pm a double set of firework displays will illuminate the skies and, for the first time, we are trialling midnight fireworks too,” Mayor Waller said.

“This will give families a chance to celebrate together at an earlier time and the buzz will continue for the rest of the night.”

“People can also look forward to a glorious selection of food trucks that reflect Liverpool’s multicultural identity.”

Tacos, souvlaki, gozleme and deep fried ice-cream from popular restaurants and food trucks are just some of the items on offer.

Families will be treated to plenty of carnival rides – watch out for well-loved characters such as Nemo and Dora the Explorer in inflatable form. Traditional rides such as the cup and saucer and carnival games add a touch of nostalgia alongside show bags and popular carnival nibbles. For older kids and teens, zorb balls will entertain for hours.

“I look forward to celebrating a grand 2018 with the people of South West Sydney,” Mayor Waller said.

“Light Up the Lake is an iconic event on Council’s annual calendar and is the perfect way for families to welcome the New Year in a safe environment that is close to home.”

Gates open at 5pm with live entertainment commencing at 7pm. There will be event parking at Chipping Norton Community Centre and Heron Park. Regular shuttle buses will run between the event parking sites and Liverpool and Warwick Farm Train Stations.
