East Gippsland Shire Council has confirmed that a Special Council Meeting being considered for this week will not be held.
Chief Executive Officer Anthony Basford confirmed that Cr Jackson Roberts had withdrawn his request for a Special Meeting of Council proposed for Wednesday evening due to the unavailability of other Councillors.
Mr Basford confirmed that a notice to rescission was lodged within the 48-hour timeframe following the December 11, 2018, Ordinary Council Meeting in relation to Council voting to oppose mineral sand mining in East Gippsland.
Mr Basford also stated that the matter would be heard in 2019, not this week as reported on social media posts.
The Shire’s next Ordinary Council Meeting is scheduled for 5 February 2019.
