An Indigenous Art Workshop headed by Daviner Hart and Grant Allen-Payne drew a crowd at the Boulia Aquatic Centre. The workshop was held over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December and saw 88 community residents attend. Their were young un-initiated artists, aspiring artists and adults who were skilled in painting, looking for more tips and hints. Boulia Community Support Manager Jan Norton said the participates were taught how to paint Indigenous art. Some of the styles they were instructed in were dot painting, a style of Aboriginal art that makes extensive use of dots of colour, and landscape painting. Ms Norton said the aspiring artists took home a sense of pride at the end of the workshop. “The Boulia State Schoool donated canvasses for the children to paint and these paintings will be put on display as a gallery at the annual Spring Fair next year,” she said.
