Adult change facility opened at Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub
Blue Mountains 17 Dec 2018

Blue Mountains City Council officially opened its adult change facility at Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub this month.

It is the second adult change facility provided by Council. The first facility – installed at Echo Point in 2016 – has proven to be popular with both tourists and residents living with a disability, as well as their carers.        The new change facility includes a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench and a tracking hoist system that is best practice in design. It enables people with disabilities to enjoy cultural, community and visitor facilities with greater ease and dignity.

It has been estimated that 10 per cent of current Blue Mountains Theatre and Hub patrons are living with a disability. This number is expected to increase now that the adult change facility has been opened.

Cr Shae Foenander, who officially opened the facility on behalf of the Mayor on 5 December, said: “It’s wonderful to be opening this adult change facility to enable inclusion for all. I trust it will create greater independence for many who come to the Hub and Springwood township.”
