Plastic Palace carries important sustainability message
AlburyCity News 17 Dec 2018

Award-winning architect Raffaello Rosselli has used the hard plastic waste produced by our community in just four weeks to create a talking point on sustainable design and reducing waste.

The result is Plastic Palace - a 20-tonne, six-metre tall installation made of bales of plastic collected at the Albury Waste Management Centre.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said the installation would provide a focal point for the community over summer.

"This structure celebrates a meeting of architecture and art but perhaps more importantly, drives home a message that we should all think about how much waste we produce and what we can do to reduce that," he said.

Plastic Palace will remain in the square until March, after which it will be 'repurposed' elsewhere in Albury.
