Council is again giving Fairfield City residents an additional free recycling bin pick-up over Christmas and New Year.
Between 24 December 2018 and 4 January 2019, you can take out both your recycling and waste bins on your normal garbage pick-up days.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the Christmas and New Year period is a busy time for families.
“Christmas and New Year is a time for families to come together to unwrap gifts, pull bon bons, and enjoy eating and drinking together,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Council knows that this also brings extra wrapping and recyclables into the house.
“Council wants to help residents continue to recycle well and help save the environment and these extra collections will help residents to free-up their bins for the extra recyclable waste.
“Council wants families to relax and enjoy Christmas together while ensuring our city always looks great so we can all be proud of our beautiful City, keeping it a clean and attractive place to live, work and play.”
This additional recycling service is one of many extra waste services offered by Council.
Council offers the free green waste voucher delivered to residents with rates notices in July and the annual Spring Clean-Up and Chemical Clean Out events at Fairfield Showground.
Residents also have two kerbside pick-ups each year for more bulky waste and Council is currently investigating having an extra ‘call-up’ kerbside pick-up service so households can arrange a pick-up when they need it.
These services are in addition to the existing citywide street sweeping and cleaning.
