If you’re shopping in the Armadale City Centre this December, you may notice an array of Christmas wreaths have been installed along the Jull Street Mall.
The City of Armadale has paid homage to its volunteers this Christmas with 21 wreaths installed to acknowledge a handful of the many volunteers who have contributed to the community during 2018.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the wreaths are an annual celebration acknowledging the volunteers who give their time to various community organisations.
“The Christmas wreaths highlight the contribution our volunteers make to the community throughout the year.”
Gavin (Gracey) is one of the many volunteers who support the City during the year whose face you will find in one of the wreaths.
“Gracey is a volunteer for the Not-for-Profit organisation, Resilient Friends Club.
“Gracey along with Dud, the clubs mascot, volunteers his time and skills for the clubs events including organising transport, equipment and time at speaking engagements, to help the club raise awareness to breakdown the stigma attached to mental health and social issues.
“Earlier this year he was awarded the 2018 Community Citizen of the Year award.”
The wreaths and the City’s Christmas decorations will be on display from now until early in the New Year.
“If you are in the area over the festive season, take the time to stop and have a look at the wreaths. You can also find short biographies about the work the volunteers do for the community on the City’s website.”
