Community programs will be up and running again in early 2019 in Chirnside Park following the sealing of a new two-year partnership between Yarra Ranges Council and Cire Services.
Council invited Cire to take on the management of Kimberley Place following Kimberley Place Inc’s (KPI) recent decision to end its partnering agreement and building lease with Council as a result of financial difficulties.
Chirnside ward councillor Richard Higgins said the partnership with Cire would be welcome news for the local community who had enjoyed the services and programs being offered at Kimberley Place over the past few years.
“Cire has a proven track record in delivering quality services for the community, and has been well-established in the Yarra Ranges for a number of years,” Cr Higgins said.
“Kimberley Place is an important asset for our local community, and Council is pleased to know the centre is in good hands and will continue to provide services and programs for our local community,” Cr Higgins said.
CEO for Cire Services Gus Seremetis said Cire staff were working hard to ensure the centre would open as soon as possible in the new year.
“We welcome this opportunity to make a difference for the Chirnside Park Community,” she said.
Cr Higgins said every effort had been made to have preschool services up and running at the centre for next year.
“Parents interested in accessing preschool at the centre should contact Cire directly on 1300 835 235.
“In the meantime, more information for parents looking at preschool options for their children immediately is available on Council’s website.
Council’s Maternal and Child Health service will continue to run as normal at the centre. Long day care will not be available.
Cire will take over management of Kimberley Place from January next year. To coincide with the new arrangements, the centre will be rebranded as Chirnside Park Community Hub.
