On-ground works for two key public open spaces in Rochester have now been finished.

Campaspe Shire Council Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the project was jointly funded by a state government grant of $151,000 with the balance of $117,500 funded by council.

“Works are now complete in Moore Street and the Rochester Skate Park reserve and once the grass is established, the temporary fencing will be removed,” Cr Weston said.

The two projects involved:

Moore Street, between Fraser and Pascoe Streets, a footpath with road crossing points and information signage in the median strip on the east side of the road. Rochester Skate Park, which is also part of the monthly Rochester Market area, grass and irrigation, footpaths, picnic tables and refurbishment to the historic bull ring, which is adjacent to the site.

“Combining the two projects has resulted in access and connectivity of two focal spaces in Rochester to be improved,” Cr Weston said.

Some additional work is also planned in coming weeks around the skate park to the fencing and the bull ring, while the temporary fencing is still in place.

It is expected the temporary fencing will be removed early in the New Year.
