As an ex-student of Ballina High School, Grahame gives back to his secondary school by helping students with special needs. Grahame is a proud Bundjalung man, shares a deep respect of his culture and people, wanting all of us to live collaboratively and cooperatively in a community that respects past and present Bundjalung people and country. Grahame has always been gracious in providing the Welcome to Country when called upon. An avid Sydney Rabbitohs supporter, you’ll often see Grahame on his mobility scooter decked out in his beloved team colours and ready for a conversation. Grahame is always cheerful with a positive outlook, respectful, well respected and involved; all the attributes that epitomise being named the Ballina Shire Citizen of the Year.

Sebastian graduated Year 12 last year. During his secondary schooling at Southern Cross K-12 Sebastian was heavily involved in school and community activities. Sebastian was a driving force of the Student Representative Council, a proficient public speaker and consistently recognised by his peers for his leadership skills, but also kindness and compassion in considering the needs of all students. In 2017 Sebastian accumulated over 300 volunteer hours, quite a feat considering his community commitments and HSC studies. Sebastian’s community involvement and contribution is an enviable list including walking a youth record distance of 60km for Ballina Relay for Life, chair of the Ballina Junior Chamber of Commerce, five years as school SRC representative, active member of the Ballina Players, active member of the Gold Coast Roller Derby community and Leo Club executive member.
