Proposed lease land in Fairway Park, Coldstream to Lyrebird College
Yarra Ranges Council 19 Dec 2018

Council is asking Coldstream residents to have their say about a proposed lease for an area of land in Fairway Park, near the Preschool.

The proposed five year lease, with a potential four year second term, has been put forward by Lyrebird College, to establish a learning facility for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder on about 4000 square metres of clear grassland near the preschool and Coldstream Community Centre.

Ryrie Ward Councillor Fiona McAllister encouraged residents to share their thoughts about the potential lease before submissions close on Tuesday, 22 January.

“We’ve seen the opportunity for a potential lease to be taken up by Lyrebird College in Fairway Park in Coldstream, but we want to know what the community thinks before we move ahead,” Cr McAllister said.

“This is a particularly difficult time of the year for community engagement, with many people on holidays or taking some time off, and we know the park in Coldstream is a well-loved area, so I’d really encourage any of our interested residents to share their thoughts, whether it’s a few words or something a bit longer.”

Council will use submissions and feedback to form its final recommendation to approve or deny the lease at its meeting on 12 February.

If the lease is approved by Council, Lyrebird College will then need to submit a Planning Application for any proposed works to take place on the site, which will go through its own notification and consultation period.
