There’s so much to do on the Northern Beaches, especially in summer. The question is, what’s on your bucket list?

For many, it’s getting out on the water.

You can’t go past the sparkling turquoise waters of Pittwater for the ultimate day out on the water in a boat. And sailing a yacht on a beautiful north-easterly breeze is one of life’s great pleasures. Pack a picnic and row to shore, or stay aboard and swim, paddle or snorkel the day away.

Discover the beauty and history of our Western Foreshore at The Basin, Currawong, Coasters Retreat or Great Mackerel Beach. There are too many inlets, coves and bays to count, so you’re sure to discover an out of the way place that feels untouched.

The waters huddled by Seaforth all the way around to our favourite little-hidden bays - Peach Tree Bay, Bantry Bay and up to Davidson Park - offer plenty of opportunities for boaties to spend a lazy day too.

For those that love a paddle, you can leave all your worries behind and discover one of the beautiful waterways on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP).

If you want to take a more traditional approach, kayaking allows you to be almost silent in the aquatic environment, observing the wildlife and wonder of nature with minimal impact. Choose to paddle alone or a double kayak gives you company and another set of muscles to help pull you through the water.

Find somewhere to launch your watercraft on our webpage or find a private operator who will rent you one - there are many private operators who rent different classes of sailing craft up and down the Northern Beaches.

Make contact with a local sailing club who can help you with renting boats, lessons and unique sailing experiences with skippers to show you the ropes.
