A dream library for the winner of the Design Your Own Library Competition would include a kids space, books, touch screens, computers, story mat, fish tanks, desks, chairs and pillows.
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Year 6 student Kaitlin Sheedy’s entry was chosen for its inclusiveness of all ages and interests.
Deputy Mayor Fiona Gaske said Kaitlin’s entry stood out among the entries on display at the St George Library.
“We have been trying to understand what people want from our library, in particular we are trying to understand the best way we can cater for the young people in our community and understand their needs for a modern library, so we decided to have a Design Your Own Library competition for students at St George Schools,” she said.
“There were some excellent entries, but Kaitlin’s colour palette and plan stood out.”
Kaitlin was presented with a $50 voucher from Golders by Cr Gaske and Director Community and Environmental Sustainability Digby Whyte.
Residents are still able to give council their thoughts on what they want from the St George Library by completing a survey. The survey is available online at Council’s website or on paper copy available at the St George Library or the Council Chambers.
