Council is excited to be hosting and sponsoring the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro again in 2019, running for 9 days from 16 to 24 March on Manly Beach.
See some of the world’s best surfers - including some of our very own – and get amongst the action at this major international surfing competition.
Manly is the home of surfing and has a proud history as a major surfing destination – playing host to the first known body surfing contest in 1908 and the first World Surfboard Riding Championships in 1964.
Surfing events like this help foster local talent and are a great opportunity for locals to get together and celebrate this extraordinary area.
Manly-Freshwater also has the honour of being listed as Australia’s first World Surfing Reserve – recognising the historical, cultural, economic and ecological significance of our iconic area.
