It’s time to celebrate new beginnings, new opportunities and help us bring the New Year in with a bang at Queens Park.
Everyone is invited to join the free family fun to farewell 2018 near Frog’s Hollow in lower Queens Park, off Margaret Street, Toowoomba on Monday, December 31.
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Chair – Environment and Community Committee Cr Geoff McDonald said the afternoon and New Year’s Eve evening program offered fun entertainment for families and people of all ages.
“Council will help you launch your New Year’s celebrations with a range of activities from 3.30-8pm in Queens Park, Cr McDonald said.
“This year there will be a variety of entertainment including a Madcap Fire Twirler, and special appearance from Batman in the Bat Mobile all the way from Gotham City and Jurassic Park, both providing a great selfie experience.
“The early evening timeslot is designed for families to enjoy a relaxing program.
“The function has grown in recent years, kids get to enjoy free rides from 3.30pm followed by Family Fun at 5pm. The night ends with a bang with the dazzling fireworks display sponsored by Orchy Toowoomba from 7.45pm.
“Toowoomba City Cheerleaders and DJ Peter will be there to help get those moves happening and rev up the crowd. Get involved in the Conga Line, Limbo Stick, Parachute game, Macarena, Nut-bush, and more. Maybe even the Shark dance.
“Prizes will be awarded during the contests with entertainment, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
“Come see 2018 out in style with friends and family at the alcohol-free event.
“If you are looking for something a little different you could take yourself to a genuine bush dance to see in the New Year.
“Brush off your ‘heel and toe polka’, polish your boots and head out to the Jondaryan Woolsheds New Year’s Eve Bush Dance. Festivities out at the Woolshed kick off at 5.30pm. Bookings are required, so make sure you call ahead.”
