Sydney Harbour sparkled during a dramatic eight minute display of vibrant colours for the 9pm New Year's Eve family fireworks.
Fireworks delighted crowds around the harbour when they were set off from the Sydney Harbour Bridge and five barges, featuring new palm firework designs and silver cascading fireworks.
The display also featured the 'Jewel of the Sea' - the winning entry from 12-year-old South Australian girl Dhrithi for ABC Me's NYE Design Your Own Firework Competition.
Her design was transformed into a blue firework with a glittering white centre.
"Sydney New Year's Eve is one of the world's biggest annual celebrations and it delights audiences of all ages," Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
"The 9pm family fireworks give our younger audience members the chance to be dazzled by the bright lights at a suitable time.
"Whether they were watching from home on the ABC or at one of our many free vantage points, I'm sure they enjoyed what has become a family favourite synonymous with our great city."
The fireworks were digitally launched by 18 computers linked by more than 60 kilometres of wire and cables, ensuring the pyrotechnic display is synchronised with the soundtrack.
The colourful display was synchronised to a soundtrack especially created for children aged six to ten, featuring tracks such as What About Us by P!nk and Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer.
The fireworks were designed by Sydney's Foti International Fireworks. NYE18 marks the 22nd consecutive year that Foti International has created the NYE fireworks.
The 2018 theme Pulse of Sydney has inspired new pulsating firework effects, such as the wave effect where the colour transforms in waves moving across the firework display.
Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks are manufactured from biodegradable paper and compounds that dissipate after use to minimise the environmental impact. The City draws on improved technology, energy saving LED and low wattage lighting.
