NYE events cancelled due to weather

Cairns Regional Council advises that New Year’s Eve activities planned for Fogarty Park have been cancelled.

The surface of Fogarty Park has sustained damage from heavy rain earlier this week. Further heavy rain and strong winds are expected across the next three days.

As a safety precaution, the family concert, children’s activities and fun run have been cancelled.

Council is investigating the possibility of a scaled-down family event in an indoor location, pending weather conditions on Monday. No further details are available at this time.

At this stage, fireworks at 9pm and midnight are planned to go ahead, providing conditions on the night render it safe to do so.
