Council gives opportunities to disabled workers

Western Downs Regional Council is extending its local employment by opening two traineeship positions for people with a disability.
As part of the 2019 Early Career Program, Council will be partnering with local employment agencies to develop opportunities for the disabled community across the Western Downs.
Council Spokesperson for Finance and Corporate Services Councillor Ian Rasmussen is encouraging disabled residents to apply for these positions.
“Council strives to include a diverse inclusive workplace and offering positions like these will strengthen that culture and give people with disabilities the chance to join the workforce,” he said.
“We want to ensure that our region is the perfect place for everyone to live, work and play so this is a fantastic way to continue to do that.
“Employing local people produces real results for their own communities which is exactly what we want to see.”
Waminda Dalby Manager Tania Marshall is thrilled to see these opportunities open for the disabled community.
“We’re really excited to partner with Council because this is such a great opportunity for the families who currently depend on our services,” she said.
“We thank Council for giving the people at Waminda equal opportunities to contribute to the community and we’re always supportive of any initiatives that assist people with a disability to gain meaningful employment.”
