Upcoming projects to benefit Tara community

Two of Tara’s family favourite facilities are set to receive a facelift with funding approved under Western Downs Regional Council’s Capital Works budget this morning.

Following today’s Ordinary Meeting, Council will spend $350,000 to ensure the safe operation of the pool for many years to come. This will replace the existing concrete with a new suspended slab around the Olympic pool at the Tara Aquatic Centre.

Over at the Tara Lagoon, the focus will be on improving and extending the walking trails, with a total of $95,000 to redesign the trail and build a new land bridge.

Currently, the walking trail and concrete concourse around the pool have deteriorated so Council is fixing these issues, making them safer and more accessible for all users.

Council Spokesperson for Facilities Councillor Ray Brown is excited to provide these improvements for the Tara community.

“We want our facilities in Tara to be fun, safe and accessible for everyone to use,” he said.

“Our facilities and modern infrastructure play a big part in the great liveability of the Western Downs, so it’s important that we maintain them.

“The safety of our community is always the number one priority across our entire region, so it’s good to see these projects up and running.”

Both spots are great summer destinations for the residents and visitors of the Western Downs and increasing the usability and safety of these areas will continue to enhance the active vibrant communities of the region.
