Western Downs Regional Council has approved works to be done to help residents living on gravel roads.
Following a review of Council’s gravel re-sheeting program, Council identified several homes with dust suppression requests on the roads scheduled for gravel re-sheeting.
Council will optimise its time and resources by laying a bitumen seal out the front of these properties during the re-sheeting program.
Incorporating the dust suppressions with Council’s scheduled gravel re-sheeting will save a significant amount of money.
Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Works and Technical Services Greg Olm said the decision will increase the liveability of the region for many residents.
“This is a total saving of $362,000 that will go back into Council’s Capital Works Budget,” he said.
“Laying bitumen down in front of these properties is going to make a huge difference for many residents who deal with dust issues.
“Great liveability for our residents is a strategic priority for this Council which we are all committed to.”
Some of the houses who will have a bitumen seal over the road have had issues for many years.
The dust suppression will be completed for residents with dust issues on:
