Ballarat (City) 2 Jan 2019

The state government has published extensive information for the community about changes to traffic conditions in the Ballarat CBD as a result of the Ballarat GovHub, Mair Street and Ballarat Station Precinct redevelopments. You can view this online at rdv.vic.gov.au

The following quotes are attributable to Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh: "We know there is a lot of construction activity going on (and in the works) in Ballarat's CBD which will impact members of our community and businesses, but we also know this long-term investment will far outweigh these short-term disruptions. This major investment will generate jobs growth and joins a long list of projects set to advance our city's prosperity - it shows there is great confidence in Ballarat.

We ask for your support and patience during this time.

Parking will be reduced at the Ballarat Library, however, accessible parking remains on-site and works are also underway on the new 300-space car park on Creswick Road which is due to open in mid-February.    The City of Ballarat is also committed to working with RDV to get the best possible result for the community and businesses following the state government's commitment to funding $14 million towards 1000 car parking spaces in Ballarat.

The Ballarat Library is open as per usual during the construction phase.

We understand some users may feel disrupted by the works, but we are very fortunate that the Ballarat Library is not our only library. Users can also take advantage of our other library sites: the Wendouree Library, the redeveloped Sebastopol Library which opened to the public today and our Outreach services.

Most of our programs will move to other locations, allowing users to participate without any disruption from construction-associated noise.  A major benefit of the $2.8 million redeveloped Sebastopol Library and Community Hub is its longer opening hours – opening Monday to Friday, from 9.30am-5pm, and on Saturdays from 9.30am-12pm.

For updates on changes to program locations, library users can visit our website: centralhighlanslibraries.org.au or follow us on Facebook and Instagram @ballaratlibraries"

All media enquiries regarding the Ballarat GovHub and the partial road closure of Armstrong Street North (northbound) should be directed to Regional Development Victoria.
